Family reunification

What

Temporary stay for the purpose of family reunification gives you the right to education, training, work and self-employment.

Who

Temporary stay for the purpose of family reunification is granted if you meet the conditions required to be granted temporary stay, and are a close family member of a Croatian citizen, of a third-country national who has been granted long-term stay, permanent stay or temporary stay, or of a third-country national who has been granted asylum or subsidiary protection in line with the regulation governing international protection.

How

If you do not need a visa to enter Croatia, an application for granting temporary stay for the purpose of family reunification (Obrazac 1a) is submitted to the diplomatic mission or consular post, or to the police administration/police station competent based on the location of the intended stay of a third-country national. Exceptionally, a third-country national who needs a visa to enter the Republic of Croatia may apply for a temporary stay permit at the police administration or police station if he/she is a close family member of a Croatian citizen, spouse or a common law partner of a Croatian citizen or if he/she applies for a temporary stay permit for humanitarian reasons in cases prescribed by law.

When

If you are submitting your request for a temporary stay in Croatia, you need to submit it before your temporary stay expires (before the expiration of 90 days within the 180-day period).
