Types of verification

Legalisation

What

Legalization is used to confirm the authenticity of documents. Legalization is required only for countries with which the Republic of Croatia has not concluded a bilateral treaty or which are not signatories of the Apostille Convention: www.internationalapostille.com/hague-apostille-member-countries.

If your country is a signatory of the Convention, read more about Apostille verification. The competent body in the Republic of Croatia for all matters relating to the application of the Apostille Convention is the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia (https://pravosudje.gov.hr/).

An Apostille stamp is issued by the competent authority in your country and a document certified in such a manner for use in the Republic of Croatia only has to be translated into Croatian by an authorized court interpreter. If your country or a different country in which your document was issued is not a signatory of the above Apostille Convention, full legalization has to be conducted in order for the document to be used in the Republic of Croatia. You can find all information relating thereto on: http://www.mvep.hr/en/consular-information/legalization-of-documents/.
